The Need for Speed. Special Edition for PC is the most complete. The 3DO version is the original NFS, but only have 8 cars, 3 tracks and 2 game modes (head to head with police and opponent and time trial). The DOS version adds more tracks, and the tournament mode that unlocks secret car and track.

They just give you a slight advantage in multiplayer if you're starting from Speed Level 1. But the SP x2 gives you a decent advantage in scoring in multiplayer thus, ranking up is fast but limited to 4 hours only after you activated it.
