I have almost decided that i should buy a 2004-2005 VW Passat TDI. I live in N. California and i drive close to 2k miles every month. My current car, (2003 Nissan Maxima) is great but i want something that gives me better than 20-22MPG average. I looked at some lightly used (low miles) 2004+ VW
The 2.0 TDI is a development of the 1.9 block, but had to be done because the 1.9 is a very slow revving engine and won't meet forthcoming regulations in super tuned format hence the slow disappearance of 1.9TDI 130/150 block cars.
In Edmunds performance testing, a manual-equipped 2011 Jetta SEL went from zero to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds -- a good time for a midsize sedan with this type of fuel economy. The Jetta TDI features aVolkswagen - 1.9 Vs. 2.0 pd engine.. currently run a bora 1.9pd 100hp. due to change in the next 6mths. will likely stick with vw diesel so what are the pros and cons of 1.9 v 2.0 . am i better to get the 1.9 and lightly chip it or get a 2.0. for the extra power or stick with the bog standard 1.9 and go slower ?
